Lois G. Andrews

Practice Areas: Lois' practice includes wills and trusts, probate, elder law, protection of assets from the costs of nursing home care, real estate, and business law. She is a frequent speaker on various estate planning, elder law and probate topics.

Education: Lois is a 1969 graduate of the University of California at Davis, with honors, and received her masters degree in political science from that University in 1970. She received her law degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1973. Lois was admitted to the California Bar in 1973, and the Connecticut Bar in 1976.

Experience and Law Related Activities: Lois practiced law for two years in Los Angeles, California, prior to moving to the New London, Connecticut area in 1975. She was employed at another New London law firm from 1975 until 1988, when she left to form our current firm.

Lois is a past president of the Estate and Tax Planning Council of Eastern Connecticut. She has been a member of the executive committee of the Elder Law Section of the Connecticut State Bar and was a contributing author to that section's publication, Connecticut Elder Law, A Desktop Manual, published in 1995. Lois has also been a member of the executive committee of the Estates and Probate Section of the Connecticut State Bar. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the State Bar Section on Real Property and the American Bar Association Section on Real Property, Probate and Trusts. Lois has been listed in Who's Who of American Law since 1995.

Lois served as town attorney for Waterford, Connecticut from 1991 - 1999.

Community Involvement: Lois is a founding member and past board member of both the Women's Center of Southeastern Connecticut and of the Women's Network of Southeastern Connecticut. She has served as a member of the board of Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Southeastern Connecticut, and served on the Town of Waterford Personnel Review Board. She currently serves as immediate past president of the Waterford Rotary Club, president of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, and as vice president of the Waterford Education Foundation.
