Commercial Real Estate
and Land Use

Jim Young | Lois Andrews

Our commercial real estate practitioners have may years of experience in assisting clients to achieve their business goals in commercial real estate. The nature of our assistance depends upon the specific needs of every client, and can be something as simple as the review of a lease for a small commercial space, or as complex as assisting a client in the development of large parcels of property.

Jim Young and Lois Andrews practice in the area of commercial real estate and by virtue of their years of experience, are well prepared to assist clients in this complex field of law.

Some of the areas in which we assist clients are the following:
review of proposed agreements with real estate agents and brokers;

preparation of purchase and sale agreements;

working with a client and prospective lenders to negotiate advantageous financing arrangements;

examining the title to the property concerned;

reviewing the planning and zoning regulations pertaining to the property in question;

working with a client's engineering and architectural firms to move a proposed development through local governmental review processes as efficiently as possible;

preparing leases;

negotiating and reviewing agreements between our clients and other professionals and contractors that may be involved in the development of a parcel of property;

working with our clients and their environmental consultants and protecting a client's interest as to the growing body of environmental law;

protecting the client's interests in disputes over boundary lines and encroachments;

taking tax appeals for clients whose properties have been over-assessed by taxing authorities and who need relief;

representing our clients before local zoning and planning boards and commissions, and zoning boards of appeals, inland wetland commissions, and historical review boards;

From time to time in the development of a project, we determine that our client's needs are best met by involving other professionals, sometimes other attorneys, in the process because of the uniqueness of a given situation. We do not hesitate to recommend to our clients that other professionals be brought into a process so that a team can be formed to best achieve a client's business goals and to address issues that we feel may be best answered by others.

We encourage you to contact Jim Young
